🇨🇭 Luca Hänni announced as judge on The Masked Singer Switzerland

Luca Hänni is becoming a household name in Switzerland: he brought his country back into the Eurovision final in 2019 with his song “She Got Me” and reached the 3rd place in the German show “Let’s Dance”. Furthermore, he released his album “110 Karat”, entirely in German. Now, he is onto his next challenge: The Masked Singer.

The Masked Singer and Eurovision

On Instagram, Luca announced that he would be joining Steffi Buchli in the jury for the famous tv show. The show will air 13 November, and it will be up to Luca and the juries to try and figure out which famous people are hiding underneath the suits.

The Masked Singer has more connections to Eurovision than just Luca Hänni. Several names have participated in, or even won the show: Nadine Beiler represented her country in 2011 and won the show in Austria. Another one is Sandra Kim, who won the 1986 contest, who was announced as ‘De Koningin’ just a few days ago. Other notable names includes Australia’s Kate Miller-Heidke, Bulgaria’s Zhana Bergendorff and Estonia’s Getter Jaani.

Luca Hänni in the Eurovision Song Contest

After not having reached a final five years in a row, the Swiss broadcaster decided to choose the entry for Eurovision 2019 internally. SRF ended up with Luca Hänni. He released ‘She Got Me’ on 7 March 2019 and immediately became hugely popular. As a result, the expectations were immediately high for the country, because for the first time since long they made a big chance of qualifying.

In Tel Aviv, Luca entered the second semifinal. There he managed to advance to the final with ease. That marks the very first final for Switzerland since 2014. Luca also managed to pack the whole of Europe in the final with his summer hit and dance skills. After the exciting scoring, Switzerland was pretty fourth. The best Swiss result since 1993!
