🇬🇪 10 contestants qualify to Georgian Idol live shows

Live shows begin this weekend

The audition stage of Georgian Idol has come to an end, as 10 finalists have been selected to perform in the upcoming live shows.

A ticket to Rotterdam awaits

For the second year in a row, GPB have opted with Georgian Idol to select their representative.

Over the weekend, 10 contestants were shortlisted to compete in the live shows following their auditions. They are:

  • Merab Amzoevi
  • Mariam Gogiberidze
  • Anri Guchmanidze
  • Tamar Kakalashvili
  • Nika Kalandadze
  • Tornike Kipiani
  • David Rusadze
  • Barbara Samkharadze
  • Mariam Shengelia
  • Liza Shengelia

A few familiar names

Some of the finalists are no stranger to talent shows. These include Anri Guchmanidze, who won X Factor Georgia in 2018. Ironically, his mentor was Anri Jokhadze, who represented Georgia in Eurovision 2012.

Another X Factor winner among the names is Tornike Kipiani. He won the 2014 edition, where his mentor was none other than Tamta, who represented Cyprus earlier this year. He also competed in Georgia’s national selection in 2017 with the song “You Are My Sunshine”.

Barbara Samkharadze is also a talent show regular. She won Georgia’s Got Talent in 2015.

Live shows start this week

Saturday will see the beginning of the live shows which takes place at the Tbilisi Concert Hall. Like last year, viewers can vote via telephone as well as Facebook Messenger.

A change that has been made to this year’s selection is that rather than the show selecting the artist and song, this year will only see the winning artist be selected.

Following the announcement of the winner of Georgian Idol, GPB will select a song for them.

Georgia in Eurovision 2019

Oto Nemsadze won Georgian Idol in the 2018/2019 season and represented Georgia with his song “Keep on Going”. It failed to reach the final and finished 14th in the first semi final.
