🇸🇪 SVT reveals the next 9 artists for Melodifestivalen 2021

Part 2 of the big Melfest 2021 artist reveal!

After getting the first nine acts for the upcoming edition of Melodifestivalen yesterday, SVT announced the next nine acts for the competition today. As with yesterday, we saw a mixture of newcomers and returnees.

Anton Ewald – New Religion

Anton Ewald broke through in the Melodifestivalen 2013 with the song “Begging”. Over the years, he has been nominated for the Swedish Grammys, Rock Bears and MTV Awards. In recent years, Anton has lived and worked in Miami, USA. He has worked with star producer Rami Yacoub (Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, One Direction and others), worked as an international photo model and taught modern dance. Now Anton is back on Swedish soil, ready to once again stand where he wants to be, on stage. “New Religion” was written by Jonas Wallin, Joe Killington, Anton Ewald, Maja Strömstedt.

Nathalie Brydolf – Fingerprints

The music came into Nathalie’s life in high school and the road to Stockholm’s Aesthetic Gymnasium was lined with choir singing. She took every opportunity to sing. After trips to other parts of the world and music studies in London, she landed at home again. In 2018, Nathalie participated in Idol where she finished in sixth place, but impressed with her strong voice. Now Nathalie takes the next step and debuts in the Melodifestivalen with a song written by, among others, Etta Zelmani, Sophie Zelmani’s daughter. Written by Andreas Stone Johansson, Etta Zelmani, Laurell Barker, Anna-Klara Folin.

WAHL feat. SAMI – 90-talet

For many years, Sami Rekik was one half of Medina, one of Sweden’s most famous hip-hop duos. Now he drives solo under the name SAMI and has released hits among other artists Cherrie, Danny and Jireel as a feature. Songwriter and artist Christopher Wahlberg, better known as one half of the duo SödraSidan, now also goes solo under the name WAHL. SödraSidan has been active on the Swedish hip hop scene for several years and has worked with artists and producers such as Hoffmaestro and Tjuvjakt. Now WAHL and SAMI have merged and made their debut in the Melodifestivalen. “90-talet” was written by Sami Rekik, Christopher Wahlberg, Josefin Glenmark, Jesper Welander, Andreas Larsson.

Patrik Jean – Tears Run Dry

Patrik Jean is an established songwriter and music producer and won the entire Mello party this year as one of the songwriters behind the song “Move” with The Mamas. Now he wants to show that he is also an artist to keep an eye on and has already released two of his own EPs. Despite winning Melodifestivalen, there was no competition in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020, but Patrik Jean now hopes for a new chance in Rotterdam when he takes the step forward in the spotlight and competes with the song “Tears Run Dry”. The song was written by Herman Gardarfve, Patrik Jean, Melanie Wehbe.

Charlotte Perrelli – Still Young

Charlotte Perrelli took Sweden and Europe by storm when she won the Eurovision Song Contest in Jerusalem with “Take Me to Your Heaven” in 1999. Charlotte has, among other things, released nine solo albums and over 110 recorded songs, competed in the Melodifestivalen three more times and hosted the competition . She is also the artist who has participated most times as a interval act. Charlotte has toured in Europe and Asia, and among other things, she has starred in the musicals “Beauty and the Beast”, “Jesus Christ Superstar” and “Evita”, and sat on the “Sweden Got Talent” jury. “Still Young” was written by “Thomas G:son, Bobby Ljunggren, Erik Bernholm, Charlie Gustavsson”.

Frida Green – The Silence

There is no one in Österlen who does not know who Frida is, as she has sung at many baptisms, funerals, and local events. Frida is 28 years old, has attended the Aesthetics program in Ystad, and has been in various local bands – then often as a background singer. Now it’s time for the Melfest Audience to discover Frida Green when she stands at the forefront of the stage in Sweden’s largest television program. “The Silence” was written by Anna Bergendahl, Bobby Ljunggren, David Lindgren Zacharias, Joy Deb.

Lillasyster – Pretender

The third participant to be revealed is a newcomer in the competition, in the form of Lillasyster. The band entered the music scene in 2007 with the release of their debut album ‘Hjärndöd musik för en hjärndöd generation’ (Brain dead music for a brain dead generation). Since then, they have released four albums, been nominated for the Swedish Grammis several times. Their entry ‘Pretender’ was written by Isak Hallén, Jakob Redtzer, Martin Westerstrand, Ian Paolo Lira, Palle Hammarlund. When asked to describe their entry, the band’s singer Martin Westerstrand it will be ‘a real hard rock’

Elisa – Den du är

Another returnee has been revealed in the mix in the form of ‘Elisa’. She has already participated in 2014 with the song ‘Casanova’. She has been in numerous TV Shows like ‘Let’s Dance’ and Choir, and has Grammis attached to her name. She co-wrote her entry alongside Bobby Ljunggren, Ingela Pling Forsman. When asked to describe her entry, she said that ‘it cannot be described in words’

Dotter – Little Tot

Dotter has released a lot of music but it was in the Melodifestivalen 2020 that she made her breakthrough with the general public. With the song “Bulletproof” she was one of the favorites for the victory, but with only a point margin, it became a second place. “Bulletproof” became a big radio and streaming hit. Dotter is an experienced artist and songwriter. Her list of written songs includes “A Million Years” with Mariette and “Victorious” with Lina Hedlund. Her collaboration with Måns Zelmerlöw in “Walk With Me” also led to a joint tour and also became a big streaming hit! “Little Tot” was written by Johanna ”Dotter” Jansson, Dino Medanhodzic.

After today’s artists, we will get the remaining ten artists tomorrow between 7AM CET and 4PM CET to complete the line up for Melodifestivalen 2021. But for now, have a look at our thoughts in regards to the acts revealed today:
