Rehearsing today for Georgia inside the Gliwice Arena is Giorgi Rostiashvili, performing ‘We Need Love’. As the first rehearsals are closed to the press, this review is based upon content made public by the EBU and TVP.
VISUALS: The big theme for this performance seems to be the heart – which perfectly matches the message and song title of Giorgi’s entry. Lots of celestial imagery including stars, planets and the moon. Also heavily featured is an aeroplane, which darts across the backdrop leaving a trail of hears and/or smoke behind. It’s quite charming.
VOCALS: Unlike many of the other entries in this years Junior contest, strong harmonies are essential to make this song successful. However, Georgi’s voice blends really well in a live setting, yet still manages to distinctly stand out. There isn’t a moment where his voice is lost to the backing and his vocal tone consistently cuts through well.
CHOREO/PERFORMANCE: From today’s rehearsal this is probably most different from the music video. From what we can see, it appears Giorgi is alone on stage, which a big contrast from the large group of people that joined him for the music video of ‘We Need Love’.
That said, the clip indicates loads of balloons will be used in the performance, falling on the audience.
