Rehearsing today for Kazakhstan inside the Gliwice Arena is Yerzhan Maksim, performing ‘Armanyńnan qalma’. As the first rehearsals are closed to the press, this review is based upon content made public by the EBU and TVP.
VISUALS: Throughout the rehearsal clip, the backdrop is of a starry sky, with multiple fountains or geysers overlaid on top, projecting water to the top of the LED screen. Keen viewers will note the fountains is a direct reference from the crescendo of Yerzhan’s music video! One really interesting moment teased in the clip and official rehearsal photos includes a starry backdrop, with Yerzhan’s silhouette being illuminated by a spotlight. He is holding what appears to be a bird – more specifically a parrot?
The official Junior Eurovision commentary from the rehearsal footage cites:
A frame of yellow light mid-stage surrounds Yerzhan as he sings until the last moment’s of the song, where the LED background closes the performance with the message ‘dream on’.Junior Eurovision
VOCALS: Kazakhstan are currently 2/2 for sending mighty vocalists. He sings with confidence, conviction and strength. I’m struggling to differentiate his live vocals to the studio version.
CHOREO/PERFORMANCE: From what we can see, Yerzhan stands still to focus on nailing the vocal demanded by his song. He is joined by four dancers who demonstrate their acrobatic skills throughout the clip.
