Gliwice-Silesia 2019🇷🇸 Serbia

🇷🇸 DAY 2 REVIEW: Serbia’s Darija wants us to appreciate the world we have

It is day 2 of rehearsals ahead of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019! The countries rehearsing today are The Netherlands, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Ukraine and Wales.

Read our handy guide for a more detailed look at this contest’s rehearsal schedule.

Rehearsing today for Serbia inside the Gliwice Arena is Darija Vračević, performing “Podigni glas (Raise Your Voice)”. As the first rehearsals are closed to the press, this review is based upon content made public by the EBU and TVP.

Darija performs “Raise Your Voice” alone on stage in a beautiful brown-coloured dress with added frills at the bottom. She is accompanied by some very dramatic LED visuals which in the first chorus consist of a very stormy landscape with rain lashing at the screen, presumably to symbolise the danger our world is in.

As Darija’s performance progresses, we see some brighter images on the LEDs, including flowers and trees to emphasise this is the natural beauty we need to raise our voices and save from catastrophe. We also see a pair of angel wings appear on the LED which will presumably line up directly behind Darija on the television cameras.

It’s an important message to close the show on and the running order could be very helpful to Darija and Serbia!

Stay tuned for our reviews for the rest of today’s rehearsals from the Gliwice Arena. If you want to know what to expect for the rest of the day, check out our rehearsal schedule.

My first memory of watching the Eurovision Song Contest was back in 2001 and, over the years, my passion and enthusiasm for the contest has very much turned into an obsession. I adore music and I love geography, so this contest is a natural fit for me. If la la loving Eurovision was a crime, I'd certainly be a criminal!
