๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ DAY 2 REVIEW: A passionate and commanding performance from Ukraine’s Sophia Ivanko

It is day 2 of rehearsals ahead of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019! The countries rehearsing today are The Netherlands, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Ukraine and Wales.

Read our handy guide for a more detailed look at this contestโ€™s rehearsal schedule.

Rehearsing today for Ukraine inside the Gliwice Arena is
Sophia Ivanko, performing “The Spirit of the Music”.
As the first rehearsals are closed to the press, this review is based upon content made public by the EBU and TVP.

Sophia is rehearsing alone on stage, dressed in a shimmering silver trouser suit. The theme of the LED backdrops centres around lots of swirling images, with pink, blue and black being the primary colours.

As Sophia approaches the ending of the song, we see imagery reminiscent of diamonds or perhaps shards of broken glass that move towards the front of the screen and then back again which we imagine will give some sort of 3D effect when viewed with the television camera angles.

Sophia is commanding the stage with her powerful vocals despite being alone and exudes confidence with this self-written song, with lots of arm gesturing and feeling the spirit of the music!

Stay tuned for our reviews for the rest of today’s rehearsals from the Gliwice Arena. If you want to know what to expect for the rest of the day, check out our rehearsal schedule.

My first memory of watching the Eurovision Song Contest was back in 2001 and, over the years, my passion and enthusiasm for the contest has very much turned into an obsession. I adore music and I love geography, so this contest is a natural fit for me. If la la loving Eurovision was a crime, I'd certainly be a criminal!
