🇮🇸 ‘Think About Things’ listed in TIME’s Best Songs of 2020

Congratulations to Daði Freyr and Gagnamagnið! Their Eurovision 2020 entry ‘Think About Things’ has made it to TIME’s top 10 songs of this year.

‘The ultimate earworm’

Earlier this week, Raina Bruner and Andrew Chow of TIME Magazine published an article naming the 10 best songs of 2020. Listed at #6 is Iceland’s Eurovision 2020 and 2021 representative Daði Freyr and his band Gagnamagnið.

Here is what one of the reporters had to say about their song:

“At once funky and futuristic, “Think About Things” is the ultimate earworm. A warm, loving slice of electropop, with a slinky synth line, catchy chorus and groovy bass. Released by the Icelandic singer Daði Freyr Pétursson and his group—which consists of his sister, wife and friends—it was initially destined for the stages of the annual Eurovision Song Contest, one of Europe’s kitschiest and most popular TV traditions.

But after the annual competition was cancelled for the first time in its 65-year history, the song—the supposed front-runner—took on a life of its own as a viral hit. Thanks to a quirky quarantine dance challenge set to the song that spread rapidly across social media. Written for the artist’s infant daughter. Its universal message of unconditional love and tender curiosity hits the right notes well beyond the glitzy Eurovision stage.”

Daði and Gagnamagnið join the likes of Christine & The Queens, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion on the list.

Daði Freyr and Gagnamagnið in Eurovision

Daði and Gagnamagnið won the 15th edition of Söngvakeppnin with their song ‘Think About Things’. Although they were favourites to win, this year’s Eurovision Song Contest was cancelled.

However, they will return next year in Rotterdam. Maybe with another viral hit?
