Eurovision 2020🇫🇮 Finland

🇫🇮 The number of submissions and the finalists revealed for UMK 2020

Six entries to compete in the final

Today Finland’s broadcaster Yle announced that 426 songs were submitted to Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK) 2020. From the submissions a ten-person jury selected six artists to compete in the final in March.

Six songs in the final

From the 426 songs, only six were selected to compete in the final of UMK 2020 on March 7th. The head of music and the leader of the jury Tapio Hakanen revealed that some well-known Finnish songwriters and producers sent songs to UMK.

Ten-member jury chose the six songs to the final. The jury consists of music professionals. Hakanen says that the six final songs are very strong but also very different from each other.

Songs revealed in January

As we previously reported, the competing artists and songs will be revealed in a press conference on 21st of January. The music videos for the six entries will also be released in January.

Finland’s representative for Eurovision 2020 will be selected by the Finnish public together with a jury. It’s still unclear if the jury will be international or national.
