🇮🇹 MÃ¥neskin’s “I Wanna Be Your Slave” playlisted by BBC Radio 1

The group's chart success also continues - with their first Top 5 entry!

Success in the UK continues for Måneskin as “I Wanna Be Your Slave” finally gets playlisted by BBC Radio 1. The song will join the likes of Becky Hill x David Guetta, KSI and WILLOW on the station’s C List, which means the song will pop up across Radio 1’s shows throughout the next week.

It’s not the first that a Eurovision song had made the Radio 1 playlist in recent years – Daði Freyr’s “Think About Things” made the C List last year coinciding with its success in the UK Top 40. This time around though, it’s Måneskin that’s bathing in success in the UK as they continue to chart highly this week.

C List first, followed by Top 5

Still not yet reaching the dizzy heights of Number 1, “I Wanna Be Your Slave” has moved up to Number 5 in the UK charts today – one place up from last week. You might say it’s the perfect way to celebrate being playlisted by BBC Radio 1! Also, after moving into the Top 10 last week, “Beggin'” has continued to rise up the charts to Number 7.

Elsewhere in the UK charts today, another former Eurovision winning group have also celebrated a chart milestone. ABBA’s “Gold – Greatest Hits” has become the first album to spend 1000 weeks in the UK Top 100. At the moment, the album sits at Number 17 in the chart, 29 years after the album was first released.

On the radio front, Måneskin could find themselves rise into the B List or the A List if their success continues in the UK. Many songs rise up the lists through the weeks – we’ll have to wait and see.

Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021

After winning Sanremo in March, Måneskin went on to represent Italy at Eurovision 2021 in Rotterdam with their song “Zitti e buoni”. As a member of the Big Five, Italy didn’t participate in the semi-finals and therefore only performed in the Grand Final.

After an exciting voting segment, Italy was announced as the winner with 524 points – their first win since Toto Cutugno in 1990. Scoring 206 points from the juries and a further 318 televoting points, Måneskin finished 25 points ahead of France’s Barbara Pravi who finished as runner-up with 499 points.
