Rehearsal review

Rehearsing right now inside the Rotterdam Ahoy is Daði og Gagnamagnið, performing “10 Years” for Iceland. We will continue to update this article as each run through takes place, so make sure to keep refreshing for the most up-to-date review!

The beginning of the Icelandic performance is with a silhouette of the six band members in front of a pink LED background. As the song begins, the LED transforms into a starry background with their video game characters flying across the sky. They are all wearing their familiar green outfits, this time with added video game character detail on their shoulder pads. During the first verse they walk forwards and backwards and then forwards again to their microphones.

We see the three keyboard players with curved keyboards as the LED transforms to flashing pink and yellow 3D blocks for the chorus in which we see the singing trio taking part in the dance that we saw at the “10 Years” presentation and in the music video. Into the second chorus, we see the keyboards spinning round whilst lyrics such as “You’re so fascinating…” appearing on the LED backdrop. The video game characters then appear in the transparent LED strip as the singers move onto the catwalk and the keyboard players unite their keyboards into a big circle for the “instrumental” prior to the middle 8.

For the choral middle 8, Dadi is back on the main stage with the rest of the band under spotlights whilst the backdrop remains black and then for the final chorus, the colour comes back into the stage whilst the entire band takes part in the dance. Then at the end of the performance, they do their familiar pose and we then get a blast of pyrotechnics a few seconds afterwards!
