Mia Nicolai and Dion Cooper release the Dutch Eurovision 2023 entry: “Burning Daylight”!

The Netherlands finally has a song for Eurovision 2023! Just a few minutes ago, Dutch hopefuls Mia Nicolai and Dion Cooper released their Eurovision song “Burning Daylight”.

After months of waiting since they were announced as the Dutch representatives for this year, Mia Nicolai and Dion Cooper have finally released the song they will be taking to Liverpool ‘Burning Daylight’.

After much speculation that it would be indeed ‘Chasing Highs’ at Eurovision this year, their actual song was premiered on the official Eurovision YouTube channel a short time ago. The song was written by Nicolai and Cooper, as well as Eurovision 2019 winner Duncan Laurence and his fiancé Jordan Garfield.

Who are Mia Nicolai and Dion Cooper?

Mia Nicolai is a 26 year old singer who was originally from Amsterdam but now lives in Los Angeles. She released her debut single ‘Set Me Free’ in 2020 and with the release of that song she caught the attention of an international audience. Her second single ‘Mutual Needs’ debuted on the well known American radio show Zane Lowe Radio. She looks up to artists like David Bowie while also being influenced in her music style by art and creativity.

Dion Cooper is a 28 year old Dutch singer, who released his first EP ‘Too Young Too Dumb’ in 2021, and has previous song writing experience with Laurence after they co-wrote the song ‘Blue Jeans’. Cooper was also the opening act for Duncan’s tour in 2021. Nicolai and Cooper were brought together musically by none other than Laurence, who after listening to them realised how good they sounded together.
