Our #ESC250 2019 votes – Part 4: Sean, Aline, Luke M

Aline: A mix between young and old

2019 marks my 10th year as a true Eurovision fan. Through the years, I have listened a lot to ESCRadio which made me get to know and appreciate older esc songs too. The entire Eurovision history is so impressive!

  • 1 point: Where Are You? (UK 1998)
  • 2 points: Spirit In The Sky (Norway 2019)
  • 3 points: City Lights (Belgium 2017)
  • 4 points: Heroes (Sweden 2015)
  • 5 points: Fiumi Di Parole (Italy 1997)
  • 6 points: Hemel en Aarde (Netherlands 1998)
  • 7 points: Wild Dances (Ukraine 2004)

8 points: My Star (Latvia 2000)

A song that adds an instant smile on my face. It is just impossible to not become happy after hearing My Star, and I’m proud that Belgium gave 12 points to this in 2000!

10 points: Arcade (Netherlands 2019)

I usually don’t add very recent songs to my all-time favourites, but I made some exceptations this year. I added Arcade by Duncan Laurence in my top because it is literally the first song that has ever made me cry. I can’t explain it better than just ‘love at first sight’, or in this case ‘love at first listen’.

Honorable Mention: Nocturne (Norway 1995)

The song was in my top 10 last year, but just missed out in this one. This isn’t even a song, it’s art! I listen to it every time I feel stressed and it really helps me to relax. The live version is also miles better than the studio cut, but this is the case with many Eurovision songs. Thank you for this piece of art Norway!

12 points: Love Shine a Light (UK 1997)

Legendary artist and song. I just adore Katrina’s relaxing voice and she is just the kindest person on earth. The performance back in 1997 must have been one of the strongest in the entire Eurovision history. That is how you win Eurovision!
