🇳🇴 The first nine Melodi Grand Prix 2020 artists revealed

One former Melodi Grand Prix -winner is back!

It’s finally here; the day we’ve all been waiting for! Today we will find out half of the Melodi Grand Prix 2020 finalists, and hear the first four semi-finalists!

The five pre-qualified finalists

Five of the finalists have been selected by an expert jury. These five are:

  • Didrik & Emil Solli-Tangen – “Out of Air”
  • Ulrikke Brandstorp – “Attention”
  • Akuvi – “Som du er”
  • Sondrey – “Take My Time”
  • Tone Damli – “Hurts Sometimes”

In every semi-final, one of the pre-qualified acts will perform their entry. Their songs will be premiered the day before each semi-final.

Melodi Grand Prix 2020

The first semifinal takes place on January 11. Here we will get to hear the four songs from Southern Norway, and one of the pre-qualified entries. The four Southern songs who are fighting for the ticket to the final are:

  • Kim Rysstad – “Rainbow”
  • Raylee – “Wild”
  • Geirmund – “Come Alive”
  • Lisa Børud – “Talking About Us”

These four will go head to head in duels. The initial duels will be drawn live, and the two winners will battle it out in a Gold Duel. The winners will be decided by televote.

Remaining semi-final dates

11 January: Southern Norway Semi-final
18 January: Eastern Norway Semi-final. Acts are announced 13 January.
25 January: Central Norway Semi-final. Acts are announced 20 January.
1 February: Western Norway Semi-final. Acts are announced 27 January.
8 February: Northern Norway Semi-final. Acts are announced 3 February.

The “Big 6-0” to be celebrated in Trondheim!

This year marks 60 years since Norway’s first Eurovision participation. To celebrate this, the final will take place in the new arena Trondheim Spektrum. This is only the third time in the history of MGP that the final won’t take place in Oslo.

NRK promises “fantastic songs and artists, pyro, confetti” in the six week long selection process on th way to finding out who will follow in the footsteps of last year’s huge success; Keiino.
