Israel to select their Eurovision 2022 representative on February 5

Eight songs to be released next week

Israel’s will select their Eurovision 2022 representative on X Factor for the Eurovision Song Contest on February 5th. Four artists will compete in the final, where also the entry will be selected.

In next week’s semifinal, on January 23rd, six artists will compete for the four places in the final. After that, two songs for each finalists will be released on January 30th. From those songs, the judges, a professional committee and the audience will choose one song for each artist to perform on the final on February 5th. The result will be revealed two days before the final, on February 3rd. During the broadcast, the artists also sing their songs live.

The six artists still in the competition are Michael Ben David, Sapir Saban, Anna Stefani, Eli Huli, Inbal Bibi and Shachar Adawi. One of them will represent Israel at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin. The final will be broadcasted on Reshet 13. The final will include two parts. As their first song, all four finalists will sing a cover and one of the finalists will be eliminated. Only on the second round the remaining three artists will perform their potential Eurovision entries. The results will be determined by the audience (50% of the vote), the judges (25% of the vote) and the professional committee (25% of the vote).

Israel is using The X Factor as their national selection for the first time. One of the judges of the show is Israel’s latest Eurovision winner Netta. Previously they chose their representative through the singing competition HaKokhav HaBa. Israel has qualified to the final of the Eurovision Song Contest every year since 2015.
