On January 15th, RTP will confirm the host city, the names of the entries and the presenters for the 2020 edition of Portugal’s Eurovision national selection process Festival da Cançao. In an interview with tv7dias.pt, Filomena Cautela hints she may once again have a role in this year’s edition.
Fan favourite Filomena
Cautela rose to international fame as one of the four hosts of the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon, becoming a fan favourite presenter in the process. In addition, she has co-hosted the last two finals of Festival da Cançao, won by Claudia Pascoal’s “O Jardim” and Conan Osíris’ “Telemóveis”.
In an interview with TV7Dias, Filomena confirms that amongst her plans for 2020 are her late-night talk show “5 para a meia-noite” as well as Festival da Cançao.
Six hosts took to the stage in 2019
Last year, the first semi-final of Festival da Cançao was ladies’ night hosted by Sónia Araújo and Tânia Ribas de Oliveira. It was over to the men for semi-final two with José Carlos Malato and Jorge Gabriel taking the reins. In the grand final, Filomena Cautela was joined by Vasco Palmeirim in Portimão.

The host city or cities, presenters and the names of the chosen artists and songs will all be unveiled on Wednesday, January 15th.
The first semi-final is scheduled to take place on February 22nd, the second semi-final on February 29th with the grand final due to air on March 7th.
