On Sunday night, the first live show of X Factor Malta was broadcasted on TVM. Whilst two acts were eliminated, it was Jasmine Abela that caught the eyes of the viewers with her performance of “Crazy In Love”.
Jasmine #1 trend in Malta!
Following her performance, the YouTube clip of Jasmine’s performance has become the top trending video in Malta! Mentor of the girls category, two-time Maltese Eurovision representative Ira Losco, expressed her delight at Jasmine’s success on Instagram:
The girls category are on top form
It certainly seems that the girls category is the one to watch. Aside from Jasmine topping the YouTube views chart, performances by fellow girls Destiny Chukunyere and Justine Shorfid are currently the second-most and third-most watched clips from this weekend’s show. Yazmin & James are the girls’ closest competitors, just a handful of views behind Justine’s total.
Third time lucky for Jasmine?
Jasmine twice competed in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, the island nation’s previous selection process for Eurovision. In 2016, she placed 6th in the selection with “Alive”. She returned two years later with “Supernovas”, placing 8th.
