Vasil Garvanliev will represent North Macedonia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Having previously announced an internal selection, North Macedonia have now revealed their artist for Rotterdam. The song will be unveiled at a later date.
Vasil Garvanliev is a highly experienced singer, having started aged 7 with performances at some of North Macedonia’s most popular children’s festivals. He then moved to the USA with his family aged 12 and continued his career as a soloist at Chicago Children’s Choir.
Aside from children’s festivals, Vasil Garvanliev was also educated at some of the world’s most prestigious music schools in both Milan and Toronto.
Since returning to North Macedonia in 2018, Vasil Garvanliev has launched his own pop career in his native country with three successful singles: “Gjerdan”, “Patuvam” and “Mojata Ulica”.
Vasil Garvanliev was also part of last year’s huge success story for North Macedonia, participating as a backing vocalist for Tamara Todevska and her entry “Proud”.
“Performing at the Eurovision Song Contest is a dream come true for every artist. I am beyond honoured to represent my country at the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam. I can hardly wait to put all my experience and knowledge into creating a magical journey that will touch people’s hearts across Europe”, Vasil Garvanliev said as part of the announcement today.
North Macedonia in the Eurovision Song Contest
After last year’s success for the Southeastern European nation, when Tamara Todevska won the jury vote in Tel Aviv and finished in 7th place and gave North Macedonia their best result to date, hopes are high for this year’s act.
The nation has participated in the contest 19 times. After an unsuccessful attempt in 1996, they officially debuted at the 1998 contest with Vlado Janevski’s “Ne zori, zoro”. Before 2019, their best result was 12th place in 2006 when Elena Risteska participated with “Ninanajna”. Their previous most recent Grand Final appearance was with “Crno i belo” by Kaliopi in 2012, which finished 13th.
