Tonight saw the second heat of the freshly revamped Lithuanian selection! Previously, it was called ‘Eurovizijos Atranka‘, but it has since been rebranded as ‘Pabandom iš naujo‘ (“We Go Again!”). Following the first heat last weekend, a further 12 acts battled for six slots in the semi-finals.
The second show of Pabandom iš naujo 2020 has concluded, and the second batch of participants of this year’s selection have performed their entries. This was the second of three elimination heats, where six of the acts are eliminated per week, and the other half proceed to the semi-finals.
The results of each of the shows will be determined by a 50/50 combination of votes from a jury panel and public televoting. The members of the jury were as follows:
- Victor Diawara: Member of LT United – Lithuania’s entrant from 2006 and, to date, the nation’s best finish at Eurovision.
- Aistė Smilgevičiūtė: Represented Lithuania in Israel 1999 with “Strazdas”.
- Gerūta Griniūtė: Well-known TV host and music journalist in Lithuania.
- Darius Užkuraitis: Radio host, musicologist, and Eurovision commentator

Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest
Lithuania made their debut at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 with Ovidijus Vyšniauskas and his song “Lopšinė mylimai”. It finished in last place with the dreaded nul points. It took Lithuania several years to make the top 10 at Eurovision. Indeed it took them until 2006 to pull off a top 10 finish with a song entitled “We are the Winners”. The song managed to finish in 6th place with 162 points.
Since then, Lithuania have only managed to grace the top 10 on one other occasion – in 2016 with Donny Montell. This year, in Tel Aviv, Lithuania failed to make the final with Jurij Veklenko’s “Run With The Lions”. It placed 11th place in the semi-final with 93 points, just one point away from qualification.
