Rotterdam 2021🇱🇹 Lithuania

🇱🇹 The Roop release Pabandom iš Naujo! entry ‘Discoteque’

First live performance this Saturday

From ‘On Fire’ to burning up the ‘Discoteque’ Lithuania’s Eurovision 2020 stars are back with their brand new Pabandom iš Naujo! entry to contend for Eurovision 2021 selection.

The Roop release “Discoteque”

The heat is getting higher as The Roop waste no time in revealing their entry that will compete for Eurovision 2021 selection in Pabandom iš Naujo! 2021. Tomorrow they will set Heat 2 ablaze with their debut performance of ‘Discoteque’ during the interval. Before then we have a sneak peak of what to expect with the release of the music video. However we will have to wait for Lithuania’s verdict, as The Roop have automatic pre-qualification to the grand final of Pabandom iš Naujo! on 6th February 2021.

Discoteque is bold and daring. From the knowing acknowledgement of ‘On Fire’ in the video intro. To its blend of dance hall genres. Taking us through the decades of funk, disco and house music in one song. But also in its challenge to ask if it’s “ok to dance alone?” As they shed the old attire and give us a new yellow fever. The answer to this is very much yes! A perfect antidote to shake off the lockdown blues with a solo virtual disco. As we all bring back the hand crown in this call to arms to revive the dance floors of the discoteque when we can again!

Last year The Roop won the rebranded national selection, Pabandom iš Naujo! Their viral hit ‘On Fire’ topped both the jury and televote and was among the early favourites for Eurovision 2020. However last March the EBU had to announce the cancellation of the contest due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Now that The Roop are making a 2021 comeback, can they be successful once more? They believe so. We will have to watch and wait!

Lithuania in the Eurovision Song Contest

Lithuania debuted at the contest in 1994. Their first entrant, Ovidijus Vyšniauskas with the song ‘Lopšinė mylimai‘, finished last with nil points. However, this didn’t deter them from continuing; they have participated every year since 2004.The semi-final era has seen some mixed results. With Lithuania’s best finish coming in 2006 with LT United’s ‘We Are The Winners. Despite the title, LT United could only manage 6th. Lithuania’s only other top 10 came in 2016, when Donny Montell finished 9th with ‘I’ve Been Waiting For This Night‘. Overall, Lithuania has qualified in 9 out of 16 attempts since the introduction of the semi-finals.
