Eurovision 2020🇳🇱 Netherlands

🇳🇱 Edsilia Rombley to drive former Eurovision winners through Rotterdam

The organisers of the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 have revealed the first details of their interval plans for the upcoming contest. Edsilia Rombley, one of the hosts this year, will act as taxi driver for some very special guests…

What’s your destination?

In the special segments, Edsilia Rombley will drive former winners of the Eurovision Song Contest through the city of Rotterdam. A total of four winners will hop on board to talk about all things Eurovision. The four names are the following:

  • Niamh Kavanagh – Winner of Eurovision 1993
  • Izhar Cohen – Winner of Eurovision 1978
  • Ruslana – Winner of Eurovision 2004
  • Anne-Marie David – Winner of Eurovision 1973

In the small interviews, the two time Eurovision entrant will talk to the winners to see how Eurovision has changed their lives. They’ll be sharing memories of their participations and of course there will be singing.

Different clips will feature in each of the three shows, so we get to enjoy a whole lot of Edsilia’s taxi driving skills over the week. The organisers have said that Edsilia has already recorded the clips together with all of the winners.

Taxis at Eurovision

2020 will not be the first time that Eurovision features a taxi segment. Back in 2016, hosts Petra Mede and Måns Zelmerlöw surprised some audience members in Stockholm by picking them up in a taxi without revealing their identity. Iconic Eurovision stars like Verka Serduchka and Mr. Lordi then hopped in as well for a musical intermezzo. You can see a clip like that here.

One of the directors for this year’s contest, Gerben Bakker, has stated that more information regarding the interval acts will come out in the next couple of weeks. We know for sure that no international star, such as Madonna or Justin Timberlake, will be invited to perform.
