Eurovision 2020🇳🇱 Netherlands

🇳🇱 Rotterdam invites seven ex-Eurovision winners to perform during the grand final of 2020

To follow the tradition, Rotterdam also organizes many interval acts for during the Eurovision shows. And no, this year you will not see Madonna or Justin Timberlake, we will stay in the Eurovision repertoire! We will dig into the history of 65 years Eurovision heritage.

Seven ex-Eurovision winners to sing a medley of their winning songs

The organization invited a winner from almost every decade to perform during the grand finale of Eurovision 2020. But who can we expect? Here comes a list!

Gigliola Cinquetti

Gigliola won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1964 in the name of Italy. She did that with the song “Non Ho L’Eta”, which is to date a true Eurovision classic! Ten years later, Gigliola returned to the contest with the song “Si”, and finished second.

Lenny Kuhr

Of course the Dutch cannot forget their own prouds. Here comes the first one! Lenny Kuhr won back in 1969 for The Netherlands, together with three other countries. On 15 December 2019, Lenny sang “De Troubadour” during Het Grote Songfestivalfeest. It became a memorable performance and the entire Ziggo Dome sang along with her! Are we ready for this to repeat in Ahoy?

Getty Kaspers (Teach In)

And here comes another winner from The Netherlands. Teach In won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1975. To date, only three songs managed to win Eurovision while performing first. Ding-A-Dong is one of them!

Sandra Kim

The Dutch didn’t forget their neighbours. Sandra Kim won on behalf of Belgium in 1986. So far the first and only victory for the country! With the age of 13, she will remain the youngest Eurovision winner ever and forever.

Paul Harrington & Charlie McGattigan

With seven wins, it’s almost impossible for Ireland to miss out in this line up. Paul Harrington & Charlie McGattigan sang “Rock N Roll Kids” and won Ireland’s sixth win in 1994. An iconic win! Why? Ireland won three times in a row, a hattrick!

Alexander Rybak

Alexander Rybak will represent the 00’s in this medley. With “Fairytale”, he won Norway’s third win in 2009. He did that with the largest number of points ever (with the older voting system). Alexander loves Eurovision, which is clearly visible! In 2018, he returned to the contest with “That’s How You Write A Song”, and finished 15th. One year later, he awarded the points on behalf of Norway, and now he will be in Rotterdam!

Duncan Laurence

Last but definitely not least, Duncan Laurence will sing his song “Arcade” in this medley.

Other interval acts to look forward to

Edsilia Rombley

Host Edsilia Rombley gets a job as taxi driver! During the Eurovision shows you will see videos in which she drives ex-Eurovision winners through the city of Rotterdam. The winners that will join her in the taxi are Anne-Marie David (1973), Izhar Cohen (1978), Niamh Kavanagh (1993) and Ruslana (2004). Can we expect a carpool karaoke?

Internationally renowned dancer Redo opens the second semifinal with a spectacular dance act. He has had a huge passion for break dance since he was 14 years old. Despite having a physical disability, he has always done his utmost to make his dream come true, to become a professional dancer! Redo generated national fame with his dance and television appearances at “You will have it,” the thank-you concert by Princess Beatrix in Rotterdam Ahoy and at the RTL4 program “Everybody Dance Now,” where he achieved second place. He recently received the ‘Zwaan’, the most important Dutch dance prize, in the category: ‘Most impressive dance performance of 2019.’
