🇦🇲 Hayko (Armenia 2007) has passed away

He brought Armenia its second top 10 placing back in 2007

It is with deep sadness that we report the death of Armenian singer and songwriter Hayko, who passed away today aged 48.

Public Radio of Armenia report that the singer had been in a grave condition since mid-September after contracting Covid-19.

Hayk Hakobyan, known professionally as Hayko, represented Armenia at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Anytime You Need”. He placed 8th with 138 points, awarding his country with their second top ten placing in the competition.

Following the contest, he was awarded Composer of the Year. An award that he went on to win a further two times, in 2010 & 2011. During his musical career, Hayko had composed music for several films, including Do Not Be Afraid, The Killed Dove, The Diary of a Cross-Stealer among others.

He also remained in the Eurovision fold, acting as the Chairman of the Armenian jury for Stockholm 2016.
