Chanel films music video for ”SloMo”

SloMo will remain all but in name!

The broadcaster responsible for the Spanish participation for the Eurovision Song Contest – RTVE has released a promo clip that goes behind the scenes of the filming of the music video for their entry ”SloMo”. The song will be performed by Cuban-Spanish singer, Chanel.

About the SloMo music video

The music video will be directed by Pawla Casanovas, she’s a director and artist who is Catalan. Her vision showcases Chanel as the “ultimate Pop Diva, a powerful woman who slays the house!” The music video features a lot of dancing, partying and visual effects. She commented about the process, here’s what she had to say.

She is a born performer, when ever we talk about her the first shot is always good. It has been amazing, I’m very tired, but everything went perfectly. We’ve given our best for making an incredible job.

Speaking about the music video, which will be Chanel’s first as it’s the 30-year-old’s debut single had this to say.

It went really well. It’s been exhausting. We’ve put a lot of effort into this. I’m very happy, really excited. It’s crazy. Since I was little I have always loved music videos and I imagined being behind that smoke, that wind… And now she is having to live it. It’s crazy and I think my inner child is jumping for joy

Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest

Since their debut in 1961, with Conchita Bautista and ‘Estando contigo‘, the Iberian nation has participated in 60 consecutive contests. Only the United Kingdom has a longer unbroken streak. So far Spain has won the Eurovision Song Contest on two occasions. Firstly in 1968 with Massiel and ‘La la la‘ and the following year in the dramatic four-way tie, with Salomé and ‘Vivo cantando‘.

Last year Blas Cantó’s ‘Voy A Quedarme’ was selected to represent Spain for Eurovision 2021. This followed a song selection process between two songs performed on Destino Eurovision on RTVE. The choice was between ‘Memoria’ and ‘Voy A Quedarme‘, with the Spanish public ultimately choosing the latter. He was originally due to sing ‘Universo’ at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020, before it was cancelled. However, Blas was later invited back by RTVE to perform at the 2021 contest.

As Spain are part of the “Big 5” that contribute the most to the EBU, Blas Cantó automatically performed in the Grand Final in Rotterdam. He ultimately finished in 24th, ahead of only the United Kingdom and Germany, with 6 points. Notably, Spain was one of four participating countries (along with the UK, Germany and the Netherlands) to receive zero points from the televote.
