After confirming in May that she had “found the money for Andorra to return to Eurovision”, Susanne Georgi has now revealed that the government has given a “verbal green light” for a possible return to the contest in 2022.
Andorran broadcaster RTVA has already confirmed that Andorra will not return to the contest next year in Rotterdam, stating that there is currently “no desire to put Andorra’s possible participation… on the table”.

Speaking on the Wiwibloggs podcast, the singer revealed she had been involved in conversations with the Andorran government who are “very positive” about the potential return in the future. The government, along with RTVA, will make the final decision on whether the return will happen.
However, she did confirm that the return would not be in 2021, due to the country wishing to focus on the Covid-19 pandemic.
There is sort of a verbal green light, but not for 2021. I’m also agreeing with that 100%. We think it’s too soon. Here we’re still fighting with Covid.

A new government for Andorra
Back in 2019, Georgi informed the government at the time that she had secured funding which would allow Andorra to return to the contest. She reiterated, in May, that “there is enthusiasm and infrastructure” to take part, and that she had secured a sponsor.
Now, with a new government in charge of the country, she feels confident that a return will be on the cards in the upcoming years.
It’s a new government and they do listen to the country… I really feel heard, and they really want to do something for the music scene and the artists of Andorra.

Though there is not yet an official agreement between Georgi and the government or RTVA, she hopes that the conversations means she has “finally been heard”. If Andorra were to return to the contest, she has already expressed her interest in becoming Head of Delegation for the country.
Andorra at the Eurovision Song Contest
Andorra first made their Eurovision debut in 2004. Marta Roure represented the country with “Jugarem a estimar-nos” and finished 18th in the semi-final, with 12 points. They also failed to make the final in 2005.
It wasn’t until 2006 that Andorra internally selected an entry to take part in the contest. Jenny became the first internally-selected act, in Athens. Her song “Sense tu” finished last in the semi-final with 8 points – Andorra’s worst result to date. Andorra’s best result came in 2007 with Anonymous’ “Salvem el món” which finished 12th in the semi-final.
Their most recent participation was in Moscow, in 2009. Susanne Georgi represented the microstate with “La teva decisio (Get a Life)”. The broadcaster decided not to return to the 2010 contest due to financial issues. They have not returned to the contest since.
