🇹🇷 Sertab Erener performs live at Bodrum Ancient Theatre

Slowly getting back to live events

As the world slowly recovers from the pandemic, mass events start to come back in some countries. On July 25th the Eurovision 2003 winner Sertab Erener finally got a chance to perform live in Bodrum, Turkey.

According to Hürriyet Daily News, the event became a part of Kerkisolfej Summer Concerts Aegean Tour which is held in the Bodrum Ancient Theater. The venue’s capacity is more than 3000 people, however it’s too early to let such big audience in. The number of tickets was greatly reduced to 500 due to state restrictions caused by the pandemic.

Sertab Erener’s concert became the first one held this year in the Bodrum Ancient Theater. For these 2 hours the singer not only had been performing the hits and songs from her new album but also encouraging her fans to stay safe and positive during such complicated times.

The Bodrum Ancient Theater will continue to host such concerts till the end of August. Sertab herself is going on the Kerkisolfej Summer Concerts tour to some other regions of Turkey.

Turkey at the Eurovision

Turkey made its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1975 and has made 34 appearances since then. Many of their entries were quite successful.

2003 was a lucky year for the country: Sertab Erener came first with the song “Everyway That I Can”. At the moment, this is the Turkey’s only Eurovision winner.

The Eurovision 2004 took place in Istanbul and became a remarkable one for the contest history as the semi-finals were introduced for the first time.

Unfortunately, Turkey stopped participating in the Eurovision in 2013. However, the broadcaster still has the right to change their mind and return to the contest in the future.
