Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest

Latvia debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2000, with the song “My Star” by Brainstorm. On their debut, the Baltic nation placed 3rd in the Eurovision final, with 136 points. Their first (and only, to date) win came in 2002 when “I Wanna” by Marie N scored 176 points, beating out Ira Losco from Malta by 12 points.

Since their win, they’ve had two top 10 placings: a 5th place finish in 2005 with the song “The War Is Not Over” by Walters and Kazha and a 6th place finish in 2015 with “Love Injected” by Aminata Savadogo. Latvia is currently on a five year non-qualification streak, their last qualification coming in 2016 with the song “Heartbeat” by Justs, also penned by Savadogo. Their most recent entry is “The Moon is Rising” by Samanta Tīna, which came last in the second semifinal of the 2021 contest.
