🇦🇲 Athena Manoukian releases new single ‘You Should Know’

Athena has switched it up with an electronic ballad, which she wrote and co-composed

Back in May, Athena Manoukian released ‘Dolla’the follow-up single to her Eurovision 2020 entry ‘Chains on You’. Although ARMTV have yet to confirm whether Athena will be internally-selected to represent them at Eurovision this year, that hasn’t stopped her releasing new music! Her latest single, ‘You Should Know’, marks a change in BPM for Athena.

Athena Manoukian, Armenia’s Eurovision 2020 representative, has released her first song of 2021. You Should Know, a ballad, is markedly different from her 2020 singles, Chains On You and Dolla. However, the production still features the electronic flourishes we’ve come to expect from Athena. Like the aforementioned singles, the song was written and co-composed by her.

Although Armenia have confirmed their participation for Eurovision 2021, we don’t yet know if Athena will be their representative. Read into the song title what you will…

About Athena Manoukian

Athena Manoukian was born in 1994 in Athens, Greece and is of Greek-Armenian decent. In 2008, she participated in the Greek national final for the 2008 Junior Eurovision with “To Fili Tis Aphroditis”.

In 2017 she wrote the music and lyrics for former Eurovision winner Helena Paparizou’s “Palia Mou Agapi”. The track featured on the singer’s 9th album Ouranio Toxo, which reached number one in Greece (no pun intended) and is certified Platinum.

After a stint on X Factor UK in 2018, she expressed interest in participating in the contest, either for Armenia or Greece. Fast forward to February 2020, she won Depi Evratesil and therefore became the Armenian representative for Eurovision 2020.

Currently, it is unknown whether she will be internally-selected to represent Armenia for Eurovision 2021, but ARMTV have confirmed their participation for the contest.
