Sofi Marinova in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012

At the end of 2011 BNT the national broadcaster of Bulgaria announced a new search for Eurovision 2012 in Baku. However, this time they would choose their artist through the national final format Bylgarskata pesen za Evroviziya 2012. During the show Sofi Marinova tied for the lead, but took the overall victory and ticket to Baku as the most popular act with the public voters. Almost an omen for the future, as this would not be her last experience with tied results!

At the contest Sofi declared love was unlimited in a record ten languages. To date this is still the only song to feature the Azerbaijani language in the contest! During the second Semi-Final ‘Love Unlimited’ placed joint 10th with 45 points. However Sofi would not be the victor of a tiebreak on this occasion. But the Chalgra banger remains a much loved fan favourite of Bulgaria’s Eurovision history.
