🇸🇪 Malou Prytz releases new single ‘Tik Tok’

Her first solo release since 'Ballerina'

Another week is over, which means it is time for New Music Friday! This week Melodifestivalen star Malou Prytz pirouettes back onto our playlists with her first solo release since ‘Ballerina’. Set your clocks to the beat of ‘Tik Tok’.

‘Tik Tok’ on the clock, Malou is ready!

Although a clever play on words, no this is not a song about the popular video app! Here time is of the essence and Malou is running out of patience in her new sultry synth-laden single ‘Tik Tok’. Much like with ‘Left & Right‘, this is yet another example of how Malou is developing her sound and knowing what is on trend. With its cool 80s vibe and modern TikTok friendly tempo. As Malou sings of the emphasis of time and wanting to move forwards in a relationship that seems to be going nowhere.

“For me ‘Tik Tok’ is about a relationship where you stand and stomp in the same place and do not move on in the relationship. The relationship feels exciting and you want to try, but the love does not go into sync. Sometimes one feels more than the other, sometimes one wants more than the other. When you feel really strongly about someone, you can not help but meet, even if you do not move forward.”

Malou Prytz in Melodifestivalen

Last year Malou Prytz made her Melodifestivalen debut. Turning sixteen during the competition, she showed maturity beyond her years with the fresh pop banger ‘I Do Me’. As well having as the support of Melfest veterans ISA, who co-wrote the song and Ace Wilder on staging. During the second Semi-Final Malou performed second and managed to qualify directly to the Grand Final.

In the Grand Final, Malou performed 9th in the evening. Whereby she placed 12th in the competition, receiving 35 points overall from the International Jury and the Voting public. After securing her first top 10 hit in the Swedish charts she went on to release her debut EP Enter.

Earlier this year Malou returned to Melodifestivalen once more. This time she showed another side of herself in the pop-ballad ‘Ballerina’. Again she enlisted the services of Ace Wilder in stage design and styling. Whilst this year ISA was providing backing vocals to the Jimmy Jansson, Peter Boström and Thomas G:son track. During a very strong Semi-Final, which included eventual winners The Mamas, Malou qualified to the Andra Chansen round. Unfortunately just missing a spot in the Final.

However she has since gone from strength to strength, focusing on her studies whilst releasing more music. Recently she has seen chart success in Germany, collaborating with Millé on two singles ‘Do’ and ‘All Good‘. Later this year she intends to release her first full album.
