🇫🇷 France to announce Junior Eurovision artist in September

France will announce their representative for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest at the start of September. This means that the nation has confirmed themselves to be taking part in the contest as scheduled for November.

The French participant will be announced to coincide with the new school year in France, as confirmed by French Head of Delegation Alexandra Redde-Amiel, speaking to OZAP. This will be at the beginning of September.

France has selected their entries internally since returning to Junior Eurovision and as reported earlier this week, this year will be no different. So far there are no indications as to who the chosen artist will be.

The French will join 12 other confirmed countries who are heading to Warsaw for the contest on 29 November. It will take place in a studio in Warsaw rather than a large arena.

France at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest

Debuting at Junior Eurovision in 2004, Thomas Pontier represented France with their first entry, “Si on voulait bien”. He finished in 6th place with 78 points. In 2005, France Télévisions withdrew from the contest, stating that there was “no motivation to compete”.

After speculation in the mid-10s, France returned to Junior Eurovision in 2018. Angélina represented the country with her song, “Jamais sans toi”, which finished in 2nd place with 203 points. This success likely encouraged France to stay for the foreseeable.

Last year, The Voice Kids finalist, Carla Lazzari, was selected to represent France. Her song, “Bim Bam Toi”, finished in 5th place with 169 points. France received 3 sets of 10 points from Australia, The Netherlands and Wales. In the online voting, they finished in 3rd place (behind Poland and Spain) with 84 points. The next French Junior performer will be following quite the legacy when their name is revealed in September.
