🇰🇿 Karakat Bashanova: ‘I wanted to dedicate a song to my father’

With the Junior Eurovision Song Contest fast approaching the ESCXTRA team had the chance to speak with some of the participants, who will be representing their country at this year’s contest.

This time, we were able to speak to Karakat Bashanova, who is representing Kazakhstan at the 2020 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, with her song ‘Forever’.

We asked her about her participation, amongst other things. You are able to watch our interview with her right here:

Karakat’s Junior Eurovision journey

After their successful participation in 2019, Kazakhstan opted to select their 2020 Junior Eurovision Song Contest entry via a national selection.

Karakat ended up victorious out the 12 participants competing in the final, with her song ‘Forever’, which was written by Yeleusiz Ardak, Abulkhair Adam and composed by Khamit Shangaliyev. Khamit is also known for composing Yerzhan Maxim’s Junior Eurovision entry ‘Armanyńnan Qalma’, which placed 2nd, in 2019 at Gliwice-Silesia.

It has been revealed that Karakat will be performing 2nd at this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest on November 29.

Kazakhstan at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest

Upon special invitation, Kazakhstan debuted at the 2018 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Minsk, Belarus, with the song “Òzińe Sen” by Daneliya Tuleshova, who placed 6th out of 20 with 171 points. Daneliya recently was on the talent program America’s Got Talent, where she reached the finale.

In 2019, Kazakhstan was invited back to compete in JESC in Gliwice, Poland. They sent Yerzhan Maksim with the song “Armanyńnan Qalma,” which placed 2nd overall with 227 points, winning the jury vote in the process.
