Today we got the third song for Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu, Finland’s national selection for Eurovision Song Contest 2021. The song “Sinä päivänä kun kaikki rakastaa mua” by Danny was released together with a lyric video.

The song is written by Janne Rintala and produced by Timo Ruokola.
Janne Rintala co-wrote last year’s runner-up and fan favourite “Cicciolina“. He has also wrote “Draamaa” for Eini that finished seventh at Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2016.
Who is Danny?
Danny (born Ilkka Lipsanen) started his career in 1964 by joining the group Islanders. After releasing few singles with the group, he also started his solo career. In 1966 he released his first studio album and took part in Finland’s Eurovision national selection the first time. The song “Pieni sana” finished second-to-last.
Danny has recorded over 300 songs and 18 studio albums. Some of his biggest hits include “Kesäkatu“, a cover of the song “Summer in the City” and “Tahdon olla sulle hellä” and its English version “I Wanna Love You Tender” with Miss Finland Armi Aavikko. The music video for the song was named as the “worst ever” by music blog Short Attention Span in 2009.
Danny has taken part in Finland’s national selection seven times before this year. He has finished second twice, in 1967 with “Sua kutsun, Maarit” and in “Seikkailija” in 1975. Most recently he took part in 2004 with “Seven Times Seven“.
Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2021
The tenth edition of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu will take place on February 20 at 20:00 CET. Seven artists will compete and the Finnish public together with international juries will choose Finland’s representative for Eurovision Song Contest 2021.
The seven contestants who are taking part are Ilta, Laura, Oskr, Teflon Brothers x Pandora, Aksel, Danny and Blind Channel. Mikko Silvennoinen will serve as the commentator of the show and the host will be revealed in February.
