Eurovision 2019 thriller series in production for broadcast next year

Extreme thriller/comedy series set to be shown alongside contest

An Israeli producer has set his sights on the Eurovision Song Contest as the focus for his next TV project. Yes, Douze Points due to air next year.

Producer Adar Shafran is best known for his work as executive producer on Maktub.  The four-time award-winning Israeli drama was released last year and currently holds an 8.1/10 rating on IMDB.  For his next project, Screen Daily report that Shafran is working on a three-episode comedy thriller titled Douze Points.
The storyline will see an extremist group enter the Eurovision Song Contest with a plot to attack the president. Then, posing themselves as a French boyband, the group would be accompanied by agents working as hairdressers, choreographers and stylists.

Three episode drama set to air alongside contest

The 36 year old producer has already secured the backing of Israeli broadcaster Reshet. Those involved are keen for the drama to be ready for broadcast during Eurovision week next May.

We need all three episodes to be ready to air around the time of the contest, which means we need start shooting by December at the latest.      We have to move fast.

Netflix commissions ‘Eurovision’ movie

Douze Points isn’t the only production to bring the contest into a fictional environment.  In June, we reported that Will Ferrell is set to star in an upcoming Netflix original titled Eurovision. Following the news, reigning champion Netta spoke of the movie. She hopes the contest would be treated with the respect it deserves.
