🇩🇪 Jendrik Sigwart to represent Germany in Rotterdam

"I just can't stay serious about this"

After months of barely any news, it was revealed today that Jendrik Sigwart will represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam! His entry will be released on 25th February at 17:50 CET on ONE.

The 26-year-old singer hailing from Hamburg will follow in the footsteps of Ben Dolic, as he prepares for the contest in May. Jendrik was selected as the German act after impressing two independent juries during the country’s selection process.

“This is a dream come true”

Following his announcement as the German act, Jendrik said that:

I am really looking forward to performing for Germany at the contest. Okay – I just can’t stay serious about this. Hey, everyone! I am really going to the Eurovision Song Contest! This is a dream come true. Amazing!

Germany’s Head of Delegation, Alexandra Wolfslast, added that:

Jendrik is totally authentic. He has fantastic charisma and incredible entertainment qualities. It was not surprising that he convinced the juries. We are very happy that he will be representing Germany.

It was announced back in December that Germany had selected their act for Rotterdam, but until today no further details about the artist was known. Ben Dolic, who was due to represent Germany at Eurovision 2020, revealed in November that he would not return to the contest as his “career has taken a different direction.

Who is Jendrik Sigwart?

Jendrik has enjoyed music from a young age, playing the piano and violin when he was growing up. After high school, he went on to study musical theatre at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences.

Over the past year, Jendrik has wrote his own music during lockdown. After not being able to perform live last year, Jendrik posted a humorous video clip for one of his songs on TikTok and Instagram – “How to make a Musikvideo”.

His Eurovision entry is a self-penned song, which he wrote on his ukelele. Jendrik has added that he has always dreamed of competing in the contest, but never thought his dream would come true. In 2016, he posted his first original song – “Dibdibidi” – on YouTube:

What’s your thoughts? Are you looking forward to hearing Jendrik’s entry?
