🇸🇪 Patrik Jean: “Tears Run Dry is about holding on to a moment and not letting go”

Patrik will be debuting in the competition, after being part of the winning songwriting team in Melodifestivalen 2020

In the lead up to Melodifestivalen 2021, we had a chance to speak to the upcoming participants taking part in this year’s competition. We had the chance to speak to Patrik Jean, who was part of the songwriting team for The Mamas’ Eurovision 2020 entry ‘Move’. He will be making his debut in Melodifestivalen as the main performer with the song ‘Tears Run Dry’.

Noize Generation and Eurovision 2015

We started our interview with Patrik, about his participation at Germany’s Eurovision 2015 national selection ‘Unser Song für Österreich’, where he ended up as being the vocalist for Noize Generation and their song ‘A Song For You’. He mentioned that he doesn’t usually talk about his participation as much. However, he did mention that he did learn a lot from his experience.

His Melodifestivalen participation

We asked Patrik about the motivation to participate now as the main artist. He mentioned that he enjoyed his experience last year, as well as his previous experience as a backing singer previously. His dream is always being on stage, and he felt that it’s his year to do so.

Before his debut as the main artist, he was part of the songwriting team for The Mamas’ entry for the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest ‘Move’, which was set to represent Sweden at last year’s contest.

Recent and future music releases

Upon his participation at Melodifestivalen, Patrik has already released two EP’s (L is For & Consequence). For his latest EP ‘Consequence‘, he mentioned that he had a lot of fun creating the record, and that he has a lot of songs left, that he would like to release in the future, with a couple of singles after this year’s Melodifestivalen, with a potential for an album.
