🇳🇱 “Arcade” reaches 500 million Spotify streams

Duncan Laurence won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2019 with his piano ballad “Arcade”. Now, more than 2 years after his victory, the song remains a global success: Duncan posted on social media that “Arcade” reached 500 million streams on Spotify.

International success

Winning Eurovision was the first step towards the success of “Arcade”. The song was streamed throughout Europe and Australia, but had yet to reach its worldwide potential. This international success was created on the social media app TikTok, where “Arcade” is frequently used as a song that people use in the background of their videos, resulting in the song being heard all over the world. Following this success, Duncan was invited to the United States for several performances, including on tv shows The Today Show and The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

With the world’s attention on “Arcade”, it has now reached the milestone of 500 million streams. This makes Duncan’s winning entry the most successful Eurovision song on the music app. Other songs that have gathered a lot of streams include “Zitti E Buoni”, “Soldi”, and “Euphoria”, to name a few! According to Universal Music Nederland, “Arcade” is not the only successful song of Duncan’s: his album “Small Town Boy” has been streamed more than 640 million times. We congratulate Duncan on this incredible achievement!
