After a year like no other, ESCXTRA can’t be in the Polish capital city of Warsaw to bring you live coverage of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020. Nevertheless, we bring you the next best thing… an overview of each of the twelve participating entries and all the details you need to cast your online votes right now!
Meet Soleá
9-year-old Soleá was selected to represent Spain at the 2020 Junior Eurovision Song Contest via an internal selection. The young artist from Sevilla will sing the song “Palante”, which was written and composed by César G. Ross, Hajar Sbihi and Bruno Valverde.
In an interview with junioreurovision.tv, she says that it is a “dream come true” to represent Spain at the contest and that she hopes her entry “Palante” will “encourage youth to always look ahead and emphasize the importance of unity”.
When we spoke to Soleá, she told us that “even though we are going through rough times, we always have to try and look forward” – wise words indeed!
Spain at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest
Spain made their debut in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest when the contest began in 2003, in Copenhagen, Denmark. The first four participations in the contest saw Spain finish 2nd, 1st, 2nd and 4th.
Of course, the most important of these was the win by María Isabel in 2004 with the song “Antes muerta que sencilla”.
After withdrawing following the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2006, Spain took a 13-year absence with the national broadcaster RTVE returning last year, in 2019, with “Marte” by Melani García. “Marte” placed 3rd place, continuing Spain’s run of 5 top-5 entries at the contest.

Votes can be cast via vote.junioreurovision.tv NOW! Viewers from all over the world can vote for three countries.
The first round of voting is open right now and will close at 4.59pm CET on Sunday 29th November, just before the beginning of the live broadcast. Then, voting will reopen during the show for fifteen minutes following the final performance so that any final votes can be cast.
