The Netherlands at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest

The Netherlands debuted at Junior Eurovision in the inaugural contest in 2003. They are one of only two countries, along with Belarus, that have taken part in every contest since it began. The first Dutch act at the contest was Roel with “Mijn ogen zeggen alles”, which finished in 11th place.

The country’s first top three placing came in 2009 when they won the contest, held in Kyiv. Ralf Mackenbach represented the country with “Click Clack” and walked away victorious with 121 points. Since then, they have managed one more top three placing, in 2011, with Rachel’s “Teenager” which finished in 2nd place.

Last year, Matheu represented The Netherlands with “Dans met jou”. Scoring four sets of 12 points from the juries, he finished in 4th place with 186 points, including 81 points from the online vote.

  1. I hate when they go by their first names. What if there were another Demi, another Jackie, another Maud, another Naomi, another Robin, another Teddy, or another Tyrone?
