🇪🇸 María Isabel leaves music industry

"I suffer from anxiety and it is difficult to deal with it daily and more in this world."

María Isabel, the winner of the second Junior Eurovision Song Contest, has announced via her Instagram that she is leaving the music industry. She cited her ongoing struggle with anxiety as the reason behind her decision and thanked her followers for their years of support.

Her statement was as follows:

THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING
My people…I have made this decision.
I’m leaving, I’m leaving music, I’m leaving everything that I once loved but that today being in the industry is very difficult for me! And it is hard, and it makes me angry…and more so than I have never stopped fighting!
But for other issues I see myself in the obligation of having to take a breath…time to think, meditate, and know the way forward.
I could say that I will return…but that will only happen if I finish understanding how this works!
I suffer from anxiety and it is difficult to deal with it daily and more in this world.
I will tell you about this in more detail…but now with tears in my eyes I can only tell you thank you…thank you to all the people who have not left me alone on this path for 17 years here! I feel fortunate for all the blessings that God has given me and continues to give.
You are the best followers that I have been able to have since I was little, you have always taken yourself to the top!
And that is the most incredible thing that can happen to a person who has always fought for their dreams…to be valued and recognized!
But it’s time to meditate, to think, to work hard…and may God decide the way!
I love you so much

About María Isabel

María Isabel López Rodríguez won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest back in 2004 with the song “Antes Muerta Que Sencilla”. She had previously beaten eventual Spanish Eurovision representative Blas Cantó in Eurojunior to get the ticket to Lillehammer. Following her victory, she released several albums and toured internationally.

Later, following a hiatus to focus on her education, she released her sixth album Yo Decido in 2015. In 2016, she took part in the Spanish selection with the song “La vida sólo es uni”, placing 4th. She went on to release music up until earlier this year, most recently the single Mi Jarana back in June.

We wish María all the best for her future!
