The organisers of Het Grote Songfestivalfeest in the Netherlands have announced a third edition of the event. As always, the event will take place in November in the Dutch capital of Amsterdam!
Het Grote Songfestivalfeest: Edition #3
In an Instagram post, the organisers announced the return of the biggest Eurovision concert there is. This year, it will take place on Thursday, 16th November. Venue is, as has become the tradition, the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam. Roughly 17,000 people will be able to attend the event in the Netherlands’ biggest indoor full-time concert venue.
Tickets for Het Grote Songfestivalfeest will go on sale tomorrow, on 1st March. Both seated and standing tickets will be available for fans wishing to attend the event.
Line-up coming soon
Over the next weeks and months, the organisers of Het Grote Songfestivalfeest will announce the line-up of the 2023 edition. It’s promising to be a star-studded line-up as always. The previous edition in 2022 contained loads of Eurovision winners taking to the stage, such as Helena Paparizou, Johnny Logan, Loreen, Carola, Conchita Wurst and Lenny Kuhr. However, fan favourites who didn’t win are also more than welcome. Names like The Roop, TIX, GO_A, Antique and Senhit were all in Amsterdam last November. As you may expect, Dutch acts also attend in great numbers, with S10, Frizzle Sizzle, OG3NE and Duncan Laurence all there. Edsilia Rombley hosted the event and obviously sang her songs as well.
The previous two editions of Het Grote Songfestivalfeest also aired on Dutch television. On New Year’s Eve, the BBC even decided to broadcast the show as part of their Eurovision-themed night to close the year. The broadcaster sent Rylan to the event to get quotes and interviews from the acts taking part.
The first two Eurovision parties
On 15th December 2019, the first edition of Het Grote Songfestivalfeest took place in Amsterdam. The event capitalised on the massive surge of popularity of Eurovision in the Netherlands following Duncan Laurence’s victory in Tel Aviv. Winners such as Lordi and Linda Martin were present at the event.
Before a second edition could even be announced, a wave of covid-19 hit the continent. In May 2021, when Rotterdam hosted Eurovision, organisers felt confident enough to announce a second edition for December that year. A little over a week before the event was scheduled to take place, organisers were however sadly forced to cancel the show. Once again, Covid-19 was the reason behind the cancellation of the show. A year later, in November 2022, the show still looked place with the line-up mostly intact from the 2021 plans.
