Rotterdam 2021🇦🇺 Australia

🇦🇺 Montaigne to sing “Technicolour” in Rotterdam?

"What everyone's been waiting for", says Montaigne

This morning, Montaigne posted a teaser video on Twitter ahead of the reveal of her Eurovision 2021 entry this month. Shazam is showing that the title of the song featured in the teaser video is “Technicolour”, suggesting this is the title of Australia’s entry for this year’s contest.

Earlier this year, Montaigne confirmed that she had selected her song for Eurovision 2021, however she gave no further details about her song. Since being selected as Australia’s 2021 representative, she has teased information about several songs including JC Ultra, a song co-written by Diane Warren and a ‘fun’ song she worked on during 2020.

Another snippet on TikTok?

Earlier today, Montaigne tweeted saying that her long-awaited Eurovision 2021 entry, which “everyone’s been waiting for”, is “comin'”.

Shazam is already recognising the song in the snippet as a pop song titled “Technicolour”. Last month, a song titled “Technicolour” showed up on the Australian Performing Rights Association database. The song is written by Montaigne and David Karam Hadad.

A further vocal clip of “Technicolour” was also spotted on Montaigne’s TikTok in January. However, at the time Montaigne did not state whether this was being considered as one of her possible entries for the contest.

This news has not yet been officially confirmed by Australian broadcaster SBS, Montaigne or the EBU.

Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest

Although many Australians have performed on the Eurovision stage, it wasn’t until 2015 the nation took part ‘as a guest’. Guy Sebastian flew the flag with the uptempo ‘Tonight Again’, coming 5th. Due to the resounding success and positive response, Australia have competed in the contest since. In 2019, the EBU guaranteed Australia’s ability to participate until 2023. To date, Dami Im currently holds the crown for ‘best Australian result’ – almost winning the contest with ‘Sound of Silence’.

Last year, Montaigne was selected as Australia’s representative after winning Eurovision: Australia Decides with her song, “Don’t Break Me”. After the contest was cancelled, SBS invited Montaigne back to compete at the 2021 contest in Rotterdam.

Will Montaigne perform “Technicolour” at Eurovision 2021? Are you excited to hear her entry?
