🇬🇪 Tornike Kipiani to sing ‘You’ at Eurovision 2021

Georgian broadcaster GPB has announced the title of the Georgian entry for Rotterdam. Tornike Kipiani will be performing ‘You’.

The announcement today from the Georgian broadcaster is to confirm the title of the Georgian entry. Tornike Kipiani will be the representative for Georgia, and his song is titled ‘You’. The song will be released in March.

The broadcaster shared in their announcement post that the song contains elements of blues rock, pop-rock and rock, and the theme of the lyrics is on the wide-appealing topic of love.

Tornike composed his entry

The delegation gave further information on the track, Tornike wrote the entry and also involved several other musicians in the song’s recording. Named in the press release are Gori Girls’ Choir, Aleko Berdzenishvili, Marian Shengelia and Mariko Lezhava.

Temo Kvirkvelia has directed the upcoming music video and Emilia Sandquist will direct the stage performance at Eurovision. In the past, Sandquist has worked with artists for Melodifestivalen performances in Sweden.

Georgia in the Eurovision Song Contest

Debuting in 2007, Georgia has had a steady start to their time in the contest, achieving their best result of 9th place twice – with “Shine” in 2010 and “One More Day” in 2011.

Georgia has qualified seven finals since they joined the contest, however they have not made a final since 2016. At the contest in Stockholm, they placed 20th with Nika Kocharov & Young Georgian Lolitaz’s “Midnight Gold”.

Last year, Tornike Kipiani was set to represent Georgia after winning The X Factor. His entry, “Take Me As I Am”, was released at a later date. After the contest was cancelled, it was announced that Tornike would return to represent Georgia at the 2021 contest in Rotterdam.
