🇬🇪 Tornike Kipiani to release “You” tomorrow at 13:30 CET

Live on Georgian TV tomorrow

Georgia will release their entry for Eurovision 2021, You by Tornike Kipiani, tomorrow. The premiere will take place at 13:30 CET or 16:30 Georgian time. With this, the last country has broken its silence for a release date.

A self-composed entry by Tornike Kipiani

1TV in Georgia will have the honour of revealing their entry to the world tomorrow. At 16:30 local time, the entry will be broadcast for the first time. The premiere will take place on live television. 1TV confirmed the reveal on Facebook.

Tornike Kipiani wrote You himself. Like last year’s entry, he received help from Aleko Berdzhenishvili. This year, Berdzhenishvili was responsible for the arrangement of Georgia’s entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. He is also one of the backing vocalists on the track, together with Marian Shengelia and Mariko Lezhava. You will have the classic theme of love for the song. Previously, GPB confirmed that the song will contain influences of pop, rock and blues music.

Temo Kvirkvelia has directed the music video, which will also come out tomorrow. Swedish stage director Emilia Sandquist will direct the performance at Eurovision. In the past, Sandquist has worked with artists for Melodifestivalen performances in Sweden. She is part of the Sacha Jean Baptiste group, behind one of the most popular staging directors of the past couple of years. The group has, for example, been responsible for the staging of Fuego and She Got Me. Sandquist was supposed to stage last year’s entry, Take Me As I Am as well.

All the way from Georgian Idol

Back in 2020, 33 year old Tornike Kipiani won Georgian Idol. The talent show had been brought back to Georgian television in 2019 to find their act for the Eurovision Song Contest. Oto Nemsadze won the first series since its comeback, representing Georgia in Tel Aviv with Keep On Going. Kipiani, who stood out thanks to his unusual song choices, won the second.

During the series, Tornike Kipiani almost won every show he took part in. The final however was a close race. He won with 33% of the vote, with runner-up Barbara Samkharadze collecting 31%. His entry for 2020 was called Take Me As I Am. After the cancellation of the Eurovision Song Contest, GPB confirmed Tornike Kipiani as their entrant once more on 19th March 2020. Just five days ago, GPB and Eurovision.tv released a teaser of the Georgian entry. You can watch that below.
