Kaleen to represent Austria at Eurovision 2024

This morning, ORF the national broadcaster of Austria, has confirmed the internal selection of Kaleen who will represent the central European country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö, Sweden this May. ‘We Will Rave’ will premier on March 3.

Who the hell is Kaleen?

Once again, Austria’s Eurovision scout Eberhard Forcher has spearheaded the search for the latest act to represent the nation at Eurovision 2024 in Malmö, Sweden this May. Under his involvement, acts like Nathan Trent, César Sampson, LUM!X and Teya & Salena were chosen to represent the Alpine nation at the biggest music event in the world.

In Malmö, Kaleen will sing a techno-inspired banger titled, ‘We Will Rave’. The song has been worked on with famous Eurovision producer Jimmy ‘Joker’ Thörnfeldt. It will be released on March 3.

Now we know that it is 28-year-old singer and choreographer, Kaleen who will fly the flag for Austria. So, let’s get to know more about her. Formerly known as Marie-Sophie Kreissl and now taking on the stage name Kaleen, she is a self-taught artist based in Vienna. At just two-years-old, she began training in ballet. Following a successful career, with over 80 awards in dance and choreography including participating in the European Championships, Kaleen has branched out into the music world. The singer-songwriter released her first single in 2020 and self-funded her debut album, Stripping Feelings with her own independent label.

Her signature pop sound is described as, “vibrant music that manifests the brightest, most exhilarating sides of life.” Kaleen describes herself as having two personalities, Marie-Sophie is the shy and introverted persona, whilst Kaleen embraces a sexier, extroverted persona, that exudes confidence on-stage.

Kaleen and the Eurovision Song Contest

Many eagle-eyed Eurovision fans out there will know that Kaleen is no stranger to our favourite song contest! Back in 2018 during the Lisbon contest, Kaleen took centre stage during the stand-in rehearsals. These early stage rehearsals before the delegations descend on the host city, allow the broadcasters to finalise the staging package and camera cuts ahead of their submission to the EBU. Kaleen was given the task of taking on the eventual runner-up, ‘Fuego’ by Eleni Foureira. Of course, with her background in dance, she rose to the challenge. As well as this, Kaleen has made her name in the Eurovision and Junior Eurovision world. Bringing her choreography skills to the table to help participants shine in the biggest spotlight of their careers.

‘I think I haven’t fully grasped the fact yet, that I’ll be standing on that stage as an artist myself. I am in love with this world of lights and cameras and believe it’s a privilege to take the audience on a journey. I worked hard for this, and I am extremely proud. I am very looking forward to showing the world what I can do!’
