Scott Mills wants Ben Haenow or Little Mix for the UK

The United Kingdom’s success record at Eurovision has shown very few signs of improving in the last few years, and few people are more aware of that than the BBC’s semi-final commentator since 2011, Scott Mills.
The presenter and DJ was asked at the weekend what the UK can do to reverse their fortunes having tried many different tactics, and his solution was to “just keep trying.”
One thing that Scott Mills and many British fans seem to agree on is that it’s about the song first and foremost, and that the BBC should be using the wealth of British songwriting talent on offer:

At the end of the day it’s going to be about the song. If you take Little Mix, their songs aren’t written by Americans, they’re written by UK songwriters. Let’s get one of them to write our Eurovision song this year.

As well as this, he has recommended the country follows the lead of other more successful competing nations when it comes to the artists themselves:

Having said that, in most of the other countries they send a big act. They’ll send the winner of The Voice or X Factor from that year usually. There’s something to be said for that. So send Ben Haenow (X Factor winner, 2014) or Little Mix (X Factor winners, 2011), that’s the answer.

So do you agree with Scott? As we already know, the public will be involved in the UK’s selection for 2016, but would they do well to send an established act, and could Little Mix or Ben be the key to British Eurovision success?
