Rehearsal review

Firstly, remind yourselves what happened in the first rehearsal:

And now here is what we’ve noticed in today’s second rehearsal:

James is wearing the same outfit as on the first rehearsal, while the dancers are still in all white. James looks much more confident on the stage and his voice is not as crispy as it was during the first rehearsal. While the performance received some criticism after the first rehearsal, it seems that not much have been changed. The biggest change from the first rehearsal is that the two trumpets on the stage are there from the beginning, rather than coming down from the ceiling during the first verse.

The performance is clearly made to be performed to a full arena, with lots of wide shots of the arena. The camera work leaves a lot of room for improvement still, as you can, for example, see James walking down the stairs off the platform. However, James moves and dances more and is clearly enjoying his time on the stage.

Running order will play a huge role on how well the United Kingdom will do this year. If James draws the first half, there is a big chance that “Embers” will open the final. As we can expect more, better performed uptempo songs, this might get completely lost.

Thumbs up or down?
