Three more MGP-finalists selected in Norway

After tonight’s MGP-semifinal, the second out of three, we now know six of the nine finalists. Six acts competed for three tickets to the grand final, which takes place in Tondheim Spektrum on Saturday February 3rd. Tonight’s three lucky qualifiers will join Margaret Berger, Ingrid Jasmin and Gothminister, who advanced from the first semifinal last weekend, in the grand final.

The songs competing in the second semifinal, with the qualifiers in bold, were:

  • Heartache – Farida
  • You’re Mine – Mileo
  • Touch of Venus – Eli Kristin
  • My AI – Super Rob, Erika Norwich
  • Judge Tenderly of Me – Dag Erik Oksvold and Anne Fagermo
  • Ulveham – Gåte

Like last week artist Marion Ravn and journalist Fredrik Solvang hosted the show. All the artists got to introduce themselves to the audience before going on stage. Most of them used their minutes on camera to talk about their song. However, quite a few of the artists are new to the Norwegian public, so they also needed to show the viewers who they are.

The expert commentators this week were NRK’s Eurovision commentator Marte Stokstad and singer Kim Wigaard. They shared their opinions on each of the six songs, and they both predicted Gåte and Erika and Rob to the final. As for their third qualifiers they had a hard time predicting.

As always the team here at escXtra voted for our favorites in XtraDecides, and our winner was Farida and her “Heartache”.

The qualifiers were decided by a 100% public vote.
