🇨🇿 Benny Cristo will not use pre-recorded backing vocals in Rotterdam

He will take to the Ahoy stage for his first rehearsal on Monday

Having previously revealed that he will be using four backing dancers on stage, the Czech Republic’s Benny Cristo has revealed that he will not be using pre-recorded backing vocals. Back in June, the EBU announced a rule change for the 2021 contest that permits pre-recorded backing vocals to be used on stage.

In an interview with ESC Arena, Benny Cristo has confirmed that he will not be using pre-recorded backing vocals for his Eurovision 2021 performance. It is expected that many other delegations will be utilising the rule change to reduce delegation sizes in light of COVID restrictions.

In another recent interview, a podcast with Head of Delegation Kryštof Šámal, he spoke about his expectations for the contest. He stated that if the performance goes as planned, he believes a top 10 placement will be achievable this year.

The song is written by Benny and Filip Vlček, who will also join Benny Cristo on the stage at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. Benny has also confirmed four dancers, two female and two male, will join him on the stage.

In 2020, Benny Cristo won Czech Republic’s national selection in was set to represent Czech Republic with the song “Kemama”. After the 2020 contest was cancelled, Benny was selected internally by the broadcaster ČT for 2021.

Benny Cristo will perform third in the second semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 on May 20th. He hopes to get Czech Republic to the final of the contest for the fourth time.
