Azerbaijan confirms 2024 participation and opens up song submissions

The broadcaster responsible for the Azerbaijani entry to the Eurovision Song Contest, ictimaiTV (iTV) have conformed their participation for Eurovision in 2024. The contest is due to take place in Malmö – Sweden.

iTV’s rules for admission

ictimaiTV have stated that performers who want to participate in the selection can send their applications together with their songs to the e-mail address [email protected] until 30th September 2023.

In order for iTV to accept the application, the following conditions must be taken into account:

  • Sent songs must be in MP3 192 kbps format and arranged.
  • A short biography of the participant, photo and information about the authors of the song should be provided.
  • According to the rules of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the duration of the song should not exceed 3 minutes.
  • Until September 1, 2023, the song must not be placed for commercial purposes on any public resources and mass media (via television, radio or the Internet), as well as on music platforms.

Applications that do not meet the specified requirements will not be considered valid. The channel reserves the right to make changes and additions to the selected song.

Azerbaijan at Eurovision 2023

The one time 2011 champions entered Eurovision for the 16th time in Liverpool with the Beatles inspired track “Tell Me More” by twin act TuranTuralX. They performed in the first semi final.

They unfortunately failed to qualify for the final garnering only 4 points and finishing in 14th place. This was their second non qualification with their first coming back in 2018 with Aisel’s “X My Heart”.
